Proms 2013

Fascinating concert with the BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Barry Wordsworth. Some wonderful Malcolm Arnold woke up the audience after an opening half hour of drifting music by Bantock and Elgar - certainly not their most inspired works. It left me annoyed that the BBC had not taken the opportunity to programme one of the shorter George Lloyd Symphonies to open the concert. The Ninth left a memorable impression on audience and orchestra at the close of the Ealing Symphony Orchestra and would have fitted perfectly into this particular Prom.
